Braided bread and folk magic
This morning, I shared some of folk magic and superstition associated with bread. I made a 4-strand braided version this weekend in celebration of today’s equinox.
Baking sweet bread to kick off spring has become a tradition I look forward to every year—it’s helpful for getting back into creation mode and shaking off some of the gloominess of the last few weeks of winter. This week and next we’ll do a full house cleanse (I wrote an article last fall for patrons on how to completely cleanse a kitchen, both literally and spiritually).
Right now I’m trying to summon the motivation to jump into the garden. With the winter being so warm, we’re already seeing a lot of green. I’m honestly not in the mood to think about vegetables but I can’t wait to cut my own flowers.
