Spring releases

Here are a few new spring releases that I’ve been enjoying this month:

The Healing Tree: Botanicals, Remedies, and Rituals from African Folk Traditions by Stephanie Rose Bird (@s.r.bird). In this crucially important book, author Stephanie Rose Bird recounts the story of the sacred wood: how to live in it, learn from it, and derive spiritual enrichment from it, as well as how to preserve and protect it. The Healing Tree offers functional, accessible recipes, remedies, and rituals derived from a variety of African and African American traditions.

The Marie Laveau Voodoo Grimoire: Rituals, Recipes, and Spells for Healing, Protection, Beauty, Love, and More by Denise Alvarado (@authordenisealvarado) is a practical guide to New Orleans-style magic inspired by the life and traditions of Marie Laveau. This is a working grimoire created for the modern witch and Conjure worker that provides formulas and recipes for solving the problems of daily living and enhancing quality of life using the Laveau Voodoo tradition.

Celtic Goddess Grimoire: Invoke the Enduring Power of the Celtic Feminine Divine by Annwyn Avalon (@annwynavalon) is a practical guide to working with the [great goddesses] and includes exercises for celebrating, honoring, and serving them. Avalon provides chants, rituals, spells, and meditations. Learn how to build altars, craft charms, and actively invoke these Celtic goddesses so that they become a living, vital presence in your spiritual life.

Secrets of Greek Mysticism: A Modern Guide to Daily Practice with the Greek Gods and Goddesses by George Lizos (@georgelizos) teaches readers how to find each god or goddess within themselves through grounded insights on the gods’ virtues as they relate to modern life (i.e., practicing bravery with Ares and embodying love with Aphrodite), explaining the deeper spiritual meaning of popular myths, practicing guided meditations, activating the gods’ energies with mantras and hymns, and performing simple rituals.

These titles and more are available from @redwheelbooks / @weiserbooks.
