Mary Magdalene altar: almost spring
I finally had a few moments to clean and re-dedicate my Mary Magdalene altar yesterday. It worked out perfectly because it was the first day that the air felt like spring. Perfectly balmy.
It was also a much-needed distraction after a heavy few weeks. I knew that the first quarter of the year would be particularly heavy so the act of starting fresh put me in a good mindset for rejuvenation with the new season.
(The groundhog has been right so far by the way.)
After redding up and cleansing the space, I made offerings of rose hydrosol, spikenard root, and French wine. Spikenard is especially suited for this kind of ritual because I find that it has a milder scent but powerful energy when burned.
This is the only altar I have on the second floor of my home and while I assign the qualities of earth to my main altar, fire to my kitchen altar, and air to my Ex altar, it’s fitting that this space carries the aspect of water. I was fortunate to spend time here yesterday as it rained.
