Pound cake for Expedite

With Expedite’s feast three days away, I wanted to offer homemade poundcake in gratitude for his work over the last year. I’m so glad I made the decision to adopt an Expedite altar in our home. The extra work has paid off tenfold.

I’ve also noticed it’s been helpful to have a space imbued with more masculine energy. All of my altars have always been devoted to Mary, Mary, and Martha, with special attention at times to Dymphna, so while they’ve been hugely important in aspects of healing, home, creativity, beauty, and love, I’ve often shied away from ambition and action. Expedite’s come through a lot there.

Since I didn’t get a chance to use my lamb cake mold over Easter, I tried it with the poundcake with pretty good results (I also like using the lamb when it’s specifically for an offering). Because of the shape, some areas baked faster than others, so the middle was slightly soft. I think an extra few minutes will be perfect next time, but everyone enjoyed it.

For the altars this week, I picked up a dozen roses in spring colors to add to the carnations. It still feels like I’m recovering mentally a bit from winter but taurus season is on the horizon and I’m ready for it.
