Riverbank Saints

I’m excited to (finally) share Riverbank Saints, a new zine about Appalachian folk magic.

Filled with history, recipes, guides, folklore, short articles, and personal stories, Riverbank Saints celebrates the local people, places, and traditions that inspired it and offers insight into how I weave those influences into my practice and daily life.

The collection introduces a variety of my favorite topics, from saint veneration and psalms to knot magic and herbalism. It includes material I’ve shared here, along with new stuff created for the zine.

If you’ve been following for a while, you know I’ve been trying to figure out the right medium for sharing aspects of this work. Like folk magic, it needed to be flexible and responsive, grounded in tradition but shaped by the present. Fortunately, the zine format encourages experimentation and leaves room to grow. Likewise, I assembled each copy by hand, giving it a literal personal touch. It’s a field guide of northern folkways within a diverse region, exploring a living craft expressed in many forms across families and communities.

Rather than offering a window into the practice, I hope this collection brings you closer to its heartbeat.

A small batch of copies will be available in my Etsy shop on Wednesday, February 25th.
