Spring updates

Some updates to share: First, I’m closing my Patreon.

I can’t even begin to express how much it’s meant to receive such generous support, or how helpful and meaningful it’s been for me. Without it, I definitely would’ve had to pull another shift and quit making art altogether.

With how my practice has evolved, it doesn’t quite feel like the right fit going forward. I’ve talked a lot about bringing my voice down, and now that I’ve honed in on the type of work I’d like to do locally, it feels most appropriate to put more of my time and energy in that direction and share what I’m doing (when possible) here and on my blog.

And as it always goes, furthering my herbalism education has really shown me how much I still have to learn.

Fortunately, this will also leave some time for my Mary statuettes and, hopefully, to continue zine-making and writing.

Folk Marys: Proceeds from March’s statuettes sold ‘in offering’ have been sent to @the.auto.body.shop. In case you missed my Instagram stories, the Auto(nomous) Body Shop is a Pittsburgh-based mobile resource supporting bodily autonomy and community care. They provide free info and supplies for reproductive health and harm reduction. This will continue for the April release.

Separately, I’m going to have two or three statuettes on sale this Saturday, April 11th, as part of an urgent fundraiser. All proceeds will be in offering.

Reading: Therese of Lisieux has come up a few times for me lately, so I was grateful to find ‘The Complete Therese of Lisieux’ at Half Price Books (which includes not only a complete translation of her book, ‘The Story of a Soul,’ but also her prayers, letters, and poems).

Admittedly, I know very little about St. Therese, but I do know that she wrote about simplicity and a practical approach to spiritual life, and that in her final years, she struggled with doubts about God’s existence, so I’m looking forward to spending time with her work.

I made a simple witch’s ladder this week (my first in a while) with fresh willow. Someday I’m going to make the jump to basket-weaving because I really love working with the branches.
